Bhubaneswar, Apr 5 (UNI) In a bid to achieve the vision of a healthy child and healthy mother, the Odisha government today approved an Annual Programme Implementation Plan (APIP) of around Rs.2548.37 crore for integrated child development services for 2021-22.
The State Level Empowered Committee at its meeting held on digital mode under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra approved the proposal.
Out of Rs 548.37 crore around Rs, 2341 crore is meant for Anganwadi services including supplementary nutrition, uniform medicine kit equipment for the children, Rs.7.42 crore for the care of adolescent girls in the age group of 11-14 years and Rs.199.52 for Poshan programme.
Presently four broad programmes namely Sakshyama Anganwadi services, Supplementary nutrition, Scheme for adolescent girls and Poshana are being implemented through 338 ICDS projects with fund sharing from State and Central Government”.

The main activities under the Poshan programme include IEC, dymn
behaviour change communication, incentives and awards for better performance, observance of different days and occasions associated with nutrition and children, digitization of all the registers maintained at Anganwadi centres, and tracking of the real-time information through mobile phones.
The Chief Secretary directed to develop the Anganwadis to the next higher level through district-specific plans and emphasized safe electricity, toilet, drinking water and ‘learning through playing’ facilities for the children.
The department was directed to have aadhaar linking all the adolescent girls included under the ‘scheme of adolescent girls’.
About 35.08 lakh children are under the fold of Anganwadis. Besides, around 7.32 lakh pregnant and lactating women along with 13,082 adolescent girls are also being served through AWCs.
