In an effort to encourage users to take the novel coronavirus vaccines, tech major Google has begun promoting a new video. Titled "Get back to what you love", the one-minute-long video tries to deliver the message to remove any reluctance among the audience towards the vaccine.
Google's awareness efforts have been started in the US as of now. With the country providing vaccine shots to the majority of its population, a considerable number of US citizens are showing reluctance, citing doubts over the efficacy of vaccines. In addition, people also seem to be fearful of any side effects that the vaccine might induce.
There is hence a collective effort to remove these doubts and misconceptions based on misinformation. Google's new video is a step in this direction. The one-minute video records our journey through the pandemic year, going from being restricted to our homes to now having the chance to return to the "normal".
The video starts with a focus on a Google search bar with the words quarantine spelt across. An animation then shows the word being deleted through backspace. The same then happens to words like 'social distancing', 'school closings', 'restrictions de voyage' and more.
A similar animation is then shown for the word virtual, which is subsequently deleted from terms like virtual happy hour and virtual playdate. The video then shows words like online, and pandemic being deleted from the search bar. It also shows places opening up on Google Maps after a temporary closure.
The final message is delivered towards the end of the video, as an animation of a search query reading covid vaccine near me can be seen on the Google search bar. The video further directs the US viewers to know more about the cause at the official CDC website.
At the time of writing this article, the video garnered over 6.3 million views on YouTube and more than a thousand comments. People have expressed how the video has made them feel with the recollection of the events of last year. Now that the world sees a chance to restore life as we knew it, vaccines are undoubtedly the key weapon to make that possible.
