Full nala design works early: KTR leads officials

Hyderabad: The Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao, said on Monday that a chief engineer in each zone will be appointed as supervising officer to expedite works related to the widening and design of nalas and the removal of offenses.

During a review meeting at the GHMC headquarters here, Rao asked officials to use maximum equipment and human resources to complete nala design work and also to form a special green channel to release funds for it.

“Keep an eye on the development of Hyderabad, remove violations and, if necessary, provide double bedrooms for those who may lose their homes in the process,” he said. The minister said that the liaison work and the comprehensive road maintenance program are progressing fast, the minister said that transfer of development rights (TDR) worth 2 800 million euros has been submitted for various land acquisitions. Rao also reviewed the works under the SRDP and said that 21 works included under SRDP have already been made available to the public, while another 17 works would be completed soon.

Officials were also asked to focus more on improving sanitation in the city, for which zone commissioners will have to inspect their zones in the mornings and evenings. Rao-like audits on sanitation programs should also be done, Rao said, adding that the audit should include the number of homes in each circle, the number of working staff and cars from Swachh for house-to-door collection of waste. Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Secretary General of MA&UD Arvind Kumar, DS Lokesh Kumar, Commissioner of GHMC, and others were present.
