Pakyong, 06 April : Sikkim is hit by an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale. It was reportedly a big intensity Earthquake that lasted for almost 15 seconds , the people managed to come outside in open place. USG determines it to be 5.4 Magnitude ,the Tremors were Felt In North Bengal, Assam.

Currently, CM who is presently on an official tour of Gujarat is in touch with State Administration over Calamity observing the situation and the concerned officials are regularly updating him regarding the current scenario.
CM apprises nothing untoward has been reported and I pray it remains the same.
CM also mentions that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi personally called me and enquired about the current situation and I express my gratitude for his concern at this hour.

CM has appealed in his Facebook page to remain calm at this moment and urge them to not fall for rumours and assist their fellow citizens and the tourists if necessary, he would arrive back home as soon as possible.
