Can jojoba oil be a solution to your skin and hair woes?
Jojoba oil therapy is the new, much-hyped skincare and haircare trend that everyone’s talking about. So what is it all about? Aromatherapist Blossom Kochhar explains, “Jojoba (pronounced ho-ho-ba) oil is the closest to one’s skin’s sebum, and works great as a massage oil.” Adds cosmetologist Dr Priyanka Tyagi, “Since jojoba oil has antibacterial properties it’s helpful in treating acne, psoriasis, eczema, sunburns and dandruff as well.” However, she cautions, “Anyone who’s suffering from seborrheic dermatitis, pre-existing skin allergies or atopic dermatitis should avoid using jojoba oil.”
How to use jojoba oil
For glowing skin
Mix one teaspoon of jojoba oil and two-three drops of lavender oil, and massage onto clean skin for 10-15 min. Then, apply a cold compress, and finally, use a serum or moisturiser over it
For healthy hair
Mix one teaspoon jojoba oil with one teaspoon castor oil and two drops of rosemary oil. Massage it into the hair. Leave it in for 20 minutes and then rinse it off
