Dublin’s MPI Artists have signed Snoop Dogg on a five-year deal

MPI Artists, a Dublin-based music agency founded by Martin Nolan, couldn’t be accused of trying to Lay Low.

The Irish agency’s Julian O’Brien and MPI Artists’ USA partner Nabil Ghebre have brokered a five-year deal for US rapper Snoop Dogg’s touring rights outside of the US and Canada. The deal was signed with worldwide event producer and venue operator TEG MJR and its CEO Richard Buck.

O’Brien, MPI and TEG are set to work together touring Snoop internationally for the next five years. O’Brien and Ghebre will work with Robert Dreislen, AKA Bobby D, and Uncle Snoop’s Army throughout the five-year term as Snoop’s international agents.

Partner agent at MPI O’Brien, who is also a director of TEG MJR Eire and owner of Heft Music Management, told Ergo he started working with Snoop Dogg in 2019.

“Snoop Dogg was really happy with us and what we were doing and we get on well with the management,” he said. “They had us put together this five-year deal.”

He added the deal was quite substantial.

O’Brien said they had announced 15 dates for Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Dawn Meats samples lab-grown meat debate

It shows admirable self-confidence that in 2019 Dawn Meats were happy to award the crown in their annual student Great Agri Food Debate to Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), for successfully proposing the motion ‘Vegan diets are better for people and planet’.

Two years on, and WIT were on more meat-friendly ground in successfully proposing the motion ‘Lab-grown meats will not replace traditional livestock farming systems’, winning the competition for a second time in its six-year history.

Judges included Dawn Meats CEO Niall Browne, Bord Bia chair Dan McSweeney, and Beth Hart, vice-president of supply chain and brand trust at debate co-sponsors McDonald’s.

Keywords’ capital idea

Gaming services company Keywords Studios may have plans for its Dublin operation.

Sonia Sedler, the joint interim CEO of the Irish-headquartered firm, recently said Keyword Studios expected “to build on the momentum achieved in the second half of 2020”. She went on to add that the company would continue to develop operations at six locations, including Dublin, Tokyo, Montreal, Katowice, Milan and Singapore.

A spokeswoman said Keywords was not in a position to comment in more detail at this stage.
