Cyclist activist Philem Rohan reached Bengaluru : March 21st, 2021
Manipuri Cyclist activist Philem Rohan Singh reached Bengaluru on Saturday and he was recieved and hosted by the MMAB ( Manipuri Meitei Association Bangalore).
An interaction program was organised by MMAB which included MMAB President Maj Rajkumar Jhaljit (Retd.), Vice President Thokchom Romen, General Secretary Nongthombam John and senior memeber Jenial Thiyam and other active members, and discussed on how MMAB can help him in promoting and raising funds in order to feed the hungry.
He is on his journey for the campaign "Feeding the hungry" which was started on 5th Feb 2021 from kolkata. He will be traveling the "Golden Quadrilateral route" - Kolkata to Delhi via Chennai & Mumbai.
This ongoing campaign "Feeding the hungry" is his 8th expedition and he has been conducting cycling expedition for various causes related to "Environment & Humanity" since 2018.
Currently, his team "Cycling for Humanity" is feeding 50 to 60 homeless everyday in his absence. Rohan and his team have been taking care of homeless in his state (Manipur), since the Covid-19 pandemic break out last year. They have been reaching out to the needy and trying all the possibilities to help.
They are not related with any NGOs or Organisations, they are a group of youths who wanted to help the needy. We are trying our best to contribute a little for the society and I believe today's youth can bring a change by working together. He also received donations from people who support and love us. However, majority of the funds are from our team individual pockets and raised by selling our T-shirt "Cycling for Humanity".
We also request the government for help, few ministers have helped us from their individual capacity. We wanted to continue feeding the homeless but there are certain limitations in what we can do, said Rohan.
Rohan started a campaign called "Feeding the hungry", in which I will be cycling across the golden quadrilateral of India (Kolkata- Chennai-Mumbai-Delhi and back to Kolkata) a feet of more than 5000+ kms. The vision behind this campaign is to raise awareness and funds to feed the homeless people - mentioned Rohan and thanked MMAB for all the support and organizing and interacting session in short notice.
MMAB strongly support the noble cause initiated by Rohan, and committed in supporting him in his endeavours and extends best wishes to his mission.
