Hyderabad police in cybercrime deceived three men in front of woman

Hyderabad: Three cyber fraudsters from Madhya Pradesh who defrauded a city woman on the pretext of online shopping were arrested by the cybercrime police in Hyderabad on Sunday. Police seized three cellphones, debit and credit cards.

The arrested persons were identified as Tarun Prajapathi (24), Bablu Chouhan (26) and Sandeep Bansode (27), all natives of Madhya Pradesh.

KVM Prasad, ACP Cybercrimes, said the victim received notification last year through a Facebook account in the name of Sakshi Mehta, who claims to be a consultant in trading with the Central Trade Research firm in Vasant Kunj in New Delhi.

‘The victim believed the caller and provided the bank account details and transferred R5 million for online trading. “After that, Sakshi told the complainant that she earns a profit of 88 million euros, but that she has to pay an equal amount to the company which will be returned later,” the official said.

The victim transferred about 1.20 million in the accounts of Sakshi and later realized she was deceived. On the basis of a complaint, the police registered a case and located the three persons and arrested them.

The ACP said the trio had opened accounts in various banks in Madhya Pradesh to transfer money to bona fide persons. Police have appealed to the public not to believe any notices or calls securing online trading.
