Thane, Apr 3 (UNI) The police bandobust at Rabodi in Thane city has been stepped up and additional forces deployed following tension in the locality this evening the police said.
The Thane city police control room officials confirmed that the bandobust had been stepped up and additional police force deployed there.
It was on Saturday the UP STF arrested one Irfan in conncection with the gunning down of the MNS leader Jamil Shaikh in Thane city.
IT was since November 11,2020 when Shaikh the office bearer of the MNS was gunned down Irfan was on the run and finally the STF at Lucknow nabbed him on Saturday at Lucknow.
Uneasy calm prevailed in Rabodi locality following the arrest of Irfan who is understood have been paid a sum of Rs. 10 lakh for the contract to kill the MNS leader.
The locality witnessed tension immediately following the assination of Shaikh in Rabodi and several thousands attended his funeral then and tension ran high.
Today the office of one of the leaders of the NCP was also attacked by some miscreants it was stated but the police are yet to confirm the same.
The Thane-Palghar district president of the MNS Avinash Jadhav who had raised the issue of murder Jamil vehemently demanded that the Thane police should immediately arrest Najeeb Mulla whose name has cropped up in the killing.
The STF at UP has done a commendable job in arresting the main accused in the killing he said.
