Hyderabad, Apr 3 (UNI) With no sign of any ebb, the surge in COVID-19 cases continues in Telangana as the state registered a whopping 1,078 fresh Coronavirus cases until 2000 hours on Friday taking the daily count of positive cases to 3,10,819 as on date.
The state recorded six fresh fatalities due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the overall death toll as of Friday to 1,712 translating a case fatality rate of 0.55 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.5 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Saturday.
A total of 331 people have recuperated from Coronavirus state-wide pushing the cumulative recoveries so far to 3,02,207 constituting a recovery rate of 97.22 per cent while the National recovery rate was 93.3 per cent.
The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 6,900 including 3,116 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
About 59,705 swab samples have been tested in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 2,129 swab samples are awaited.
Cumulatively, 1,03,29,954 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state till date since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GMC), being the top contributor of the infection, recorded 283 new Coronavirus cases since the last 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district (113), Ranagareddy district (104) and Nizamabad district (75).
The remaining COVID-19 cases have been reported by other districts, the bulletin added.
