Ten youths arrested for stone pelting in Pulwama

Srinagar, Apr 3 (UNI) Police on Saturday arrested ten youths for allegedly indulging in stone pelting near an encounter site in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.

Clashes erupted between security forces and protestors on Friday when three militants were killed in an encounter which ensued during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at Kakpora on the banks of the river Jhelum in Pulwama.

Official sources said on a tip-off about the presence of militants, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint CASO at Kakpora late Thursday night.

They said during the encounter some miscreants from nearby village Samboora attempted to disrupt security forces by pelting stones on them and by raising anti-national slogans. “The miscreants were video graphed on spot and later on identified by police,” they said.

They said acting swiftly Police Station Pampore arrested 10 identified miscreants and booked them under relevant sections of law. “Efforts for arrest of other involved miscreants are on and all involved people will be booked accordingly,” they said.

They said police has made it clear that these incidents will not be tolerated and parents should refrain their children from indulging in such activities.
