AGRA: Accusing the BJP of engineering the attack on his convoy in Alwar a day earlier , Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Saturday said that such incidents would not deter his spirit or weaken the ongoing farmers’ agitation.
Talking to media persons in Gonda, Aligarh, where he had come to address a Kisan Mahapanchayat, Tikait said that even if these attacks happen 100 times, he will not change his programs and will continue to motivate farmers across the country.
“Jaan Jane tak hamle honge..yeh program nahi rukega” (these will happen but these programs will not stop till I am alive). Accusing the BJP of engineering the attack on him, he said, “ABVP students were present there.” He further added, “my program for Gujarat is scheduled for two days then I’ll be back in UP. I would be then going to Himachal, Bihar and Banaras.”
On the ensuing panchayat elections in the state, he appealed to the farmers — “not to forget that this government is a cheater”. Sharing a picture from his twitter account, Tikait stated that the reason for sharing it is that this movement is not only alive but firmly progressing too.
Addressing a massive crowd at Mahapanchayat, Tikait advised farmers to sit in protest whenever they are stopped by the police. “No need to do or say anything. Just carry a tent and a stove and sit-in there,” he said, adding that prepare ‘yourself’ for the next 9 months as 2021 is the year of this ‘movement’.
Tikait said that this government needs to be taught a lesson. “Farmers will not leave this easily as they know how to handle problematic bulls,” he said, adding that this will take time and at least one year course is needed for rectification. Urging the youth to start being active on social media. “Use twitter along with a photo of a tractor to spread the message," he said.
