Hyderabad: Panic prevails over gas leak from chemical plant

Hyderabad: Gas leak from a chemical factory caused panic among residents in Maruthi Nagar in Golnaka, Amberpet, on Friday.

According to a report in Telangana Today, residents of the area alerted police and firefighters after they noticed a pungent odor. The smell comes from Deccan Chemical Factory.

Shortly after the information was received, both the fire department and GHMC came into action. A fire truck and a team from the corporation rushed to the scene.

According to officials, gas was leaking at the chemical plant due to a damaged reactor. The reactors in the factory contain acid and chemicals.

It may be mentioned that the factory is surrounded by the residential colonies.

After the GHMC officials brought the situation under control, they seized the unit. Meanwhile, Amberpet police are investigating the case.
