Hyderabad: Newly elected BJP MLA M Raghunandan Rao has sparked controversy by saying that the slogan of ‘Jai Sriram’, who defeated Telangana sentiment in Siddipet during the Dubbaka by-poll, was now ready for the by-election of Tirupati Lok Sabha to win.
He made these remarks while participating in the Tirupati Lok Sabha constituency by-election campaign in support of BJP candidate K Ratna Prabha, who was the former general secretary of Karnataka. The video with the comments Rao made was widely circulated on various social media platforms.
“Your verdict by your votes should bring change after the results of May 2,” Rao said, addressing people during the campaign in Tirupati. It may be recalled that Raghunandan Rao won the Dubbaka by-victory in a nail-biting match that defeated his closest rival Solipeta Sujatha of TRS by a slim margin of 1,431 votes.
The by-election in Dubbaka was necessary after the sudden death of Sujatha’s husband Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy in August last year.
