BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday issued an order to revise the cap on social gatherings in its area. It has allowed maximum 100 people in marriage related functions.
The BMC took this decision in view of rising coronavirus cases.
The Odisha government has recently restricted the number of people at the marriage gatherings to 200 for all over the state.
For death rituals related functions, the maximum number of people allowed in the BMC area is 50 with adherence to Covid appropriate behaviour and social distancing.
"Events and gatherings related to promotional activities, conferences, conclaves, annual functions, centenary/golden jubilee/silver jubilee celebrations of institutions will not be allowed till further order. For other kinds of social gatherings, the hosts need to obtain specific permission from BMC," said the order.
Meanwhile, the BMC enforcement squad has sealed a shopping mall at Market Building for violating Covid guidelines.
It has also imposed a fine on shops and vendors at the building and Khau Gali, respectively for not obeying the Covid rules.
