Washington teen arrested in Asian couple’s attack

A Seattle-area teenager was arrested Friday in reference to an attack on an aged Asian couple 5 months in the past after video footage of the incident not too long ago surfaced on-line, authorities advised Fox News. 

The unidentified 15-year-old was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault, the Tacoma Police Department mentioned. The incident is being investigated as a hate crime. 

The attack occurred on Nov. 19, 2020, because the couple was strolling on a sidewalk. Video footage seems to indicate somebody operating as much as the couple earlier than throwing a number of punches on the man.

A girl might be heard screaming. 

The police division took a police report on Wednesday after the footage appeared on social media with a request for data from the general public concerning the incident. On Thursday, the couple’s daughter noticed the video and contacted authorities. 

The 56-year-old man who was assaulted was not conscious the attack had been recorded. 

In an interview with KIRO, the CBS-affiliated television station in Seattle, the sufferer mentioned in Korean that he forgives his attacker and needs for him to study from his actions, the station mentioned.

News of the arrest comes amid a rise in attacks on Asian Americans in current months. The Stop AAPI Hate Reporting Center mentioned earlier this month that it has obtained practically 3,800 firsthand accounts of hate incidents between March 19, 2020, to Feb. 28, 2021.
