Kolkata, Apr 3 (UNI) Ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha on Saturday asserted Chief Minister and party supremo Mamata Banerjee has already won Nandigram with a comfortable margin and there is no question of her contesting from any other seat.
He said BJP was spreading rumour of Ms Banerjee fighting election from another seat. Yesterday, BJP president JP Nadda repeated this lie again.
“We're ready to tackle all their mind games. We'll also ensure that the EVMs don’t get exchanged en route. We appeal to people to remain alert," Mr Sinha said.
Mr Sinha hit out at BJP and said review meeting held by Prime Minister, home minister and Mr Nadda late last night... Frank exchanges took place there and the party has not fared well... It was decided hence that more mind games will be played for the next phases...
“In Assam, they are trying to change EVMs wherever they feel they are losing. We appeal to EC to treat the matter with utmost seriousness and take action accordingly,” he added.
Earlier on Friday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee hit back at Prime Minister Modi’s jibe that she is contemplating contesting from another seat, saying that the people of Nandigram have shown that her party’s victory is certain.
“I want to tell the Prime Minister to control the Union Home Minister first and then try to control us. We are not your party’s members that we will do what you say,” Ms Banerjee said while addressing a rally in North Bengal’s Dinhata constituency.
“I have contested from Nandigram and will win from there,” the TMC supremo added
Meanwhile, TMC leader and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien on Saturday said, “Last night, Modi-Shah, had a review meeting over Bengal. They know that we're ahead of them. In 2019 Lok Sabha polls, we were 3pc ahead of BJP and this time it's increased to 6pc.
“Tourist Gang', despite big talks, are behind, that's why the mind games,” Mr O'Brien added.
Another TMC leader and Minister of State for Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Shashi Panja said, “What happened in Assam, about BJP changing EVMs, could be the tip of the iceberg... That's why our leaders have asked our workers to keep strong vigil on EVMs till they are placed in strong rooms,
