A 29-year-old woman was arrested Friday in the Panhandle on charges that she shot and killed a man in a Brandon apartment complex last month, deputies say.

Bianca Marchand was arrested on Hillsborough charges of second-degree murder and carrying a concealed firearm by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, authorities say.

The shooting took place about 11:30 a.m. at the Park at Portofino Apartments in the 1800 block of Princeton Lakes Drive.

When deputies arrived, they found a man with a fatal gunshot wound, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The person who shot him was at the scene and spoke to investigators, deputies said. The State Attorney’s Office would decide whether to file charges, sheriff’s officials said then.

Deputies did not release the name of the man who died, what led to the shooting or if the weapon has been recovered. It was not known late Friday where Marchand was being held.
