India’s fastest train Gatimaan Express resumes service. Check details

The Delhi – Jhansi Gatimaan Express resumed operations from April 1, 2020, onwards. According to the Railway Ministry, with the resumption of Delhi – Jhansi Gatimaan Express, railway passengers will have a means of safe, comfortable and convenient travel. Passengers can book train tickets for Delhi – Jhansi Gatimaan Express train service from the IRCTC website or mobile application.

Meanwhile, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has suspended the services of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Tejas Express train for a month in view of the spiking Covid-19 cases.

“Temporary suspension of ADI-BCT-ADI Tejas Express due to recent Covid-19 rising cases. Keeping in view the rising cases and in the larger public interest, it has been decided to suspend the services of train no.82902/82901 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Tejas Express from April 2 for a period of one month,” said IRCTC in a statement.

Note that passenger trains’ services were suspended last year by the national transporter, amid nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, considering the demand, some passenger train services were started by Indian Railways. However, the full resumption of passenger trains across the Indian Railways network may still take some more time.

Earlier, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had said that the decision to normalize all passenger train services will be taken only after the permission of the Ministry of Home Affairs. So far, 75 per cent of Indian Railways, Mail and Express trains have been started while 100 per cent of suburban or local trains have been made operational.
