“The four commissioners believe Portland can combat the wave of gun violence with an immediate allocation of $3.5 million to community-based groups that already work with the city’s Office of Violence Prevention to aid shooting victims and their families or attempt to stop retaliations, the draft proposal shows.
Another $1.4 million would pay for around-the-clock foot patrols by two dozen new park rangers. Though unarmed, these rangers have the authority to enforce rules in and near public spaces that have been the sites of some of the shootings or other violent altercations.”
Better not get in a gang shoot out because the blue haired park ranger they/them will be telling you to knock it off! She doesn’t need a gun, she has her arts degree!

How do they expect unarmed 'rangers' to enforce rules against violent individuals that have no qualms about murdering other people?
Clowns.
Rangers will be too afraid to make contact with thugs. Will call police and stand by till police make scene 'safe'. Then join the police and tell the thugs that they are breaking rules.
Either that or they will be dumb enough to confront people themselves. Will get into some schit. Then will be the victim of a violent crime.
