Thane, Apr 1 (UNI) With the arrest of a man in Thane city the Crime Unit of the Railway police on Thursday claimed to have solved a murder case in which a body was found on railway tracks between Karjat and Bhivpuri the police said.
The Railway police said in an official release that the unidentified body was found on the tracks between Karjat and Bhivpuri at around 01.15 a.m. on March 17,2021. The police said that some one had killed that man and dumped the body on the tracks to pose as he died of train accident. An offence under section 302 of the IPC was then registered with the Karjat railway police.
The Crime branch of the police who took up the probe into the crime and attempted for the identification of the body and teams were despatched to Thane, Mumbai, Palghar, Amravati, Solapur, Ahmednagar, Satara and Pune.
During their efforts it was at Teen Hath Naka of Thane city the police traced the relatives and the wife of the victim, who was identified as Ravi Pawar, 45 of Mangaon of Amravati. They informed the police that he victim had set out with his son in law on March 16, and never returned. They raised a serious doubt that the son in law might have killed the victim.
The police who were on the look out of the son in law Sailesh Bhosale, got a tip off that he was to come to Thane city laid trap and arrested him as he arrived on March 30 the police said.
The police said that initial reports indicate that the motive of murder was nothing but illicit between the accused and the wife of the victim which was being probed the police said.
