Talks to further improve bilateral ties between India and Comoros

Moroni, Apr 02 (UNI) Indian Ambassador Abhay Kumar and Foreign Minister of Comoros Dhoihir Dhoulkamal held discussion to improve further the bilateral ties between India and Comoros today.

Indian Ambassador Abhay Kumar had a discussion through videoconferencing with Dhoihir Dhoulkamal, Foreign Minister of Comoros. They took stock of the bilateral relations between India and Comoros and discussed ways to further strengthen it.

Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu had visited the Indian Ocean island of Comoros in October 2019 on a state visit. Afterwards S Jaishankar had a telephonic conversation with his Comorian counterpart in April 2020. As a result, a 14 member Indian Medical Team visited Comoros in June 2020. Foreign Minister of Comoros visited India in February 2021 to participate in Indian Ocean Region Defence Ministers Conclave and Aero India in Bengaluru and met Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. INS Jalashwa supplied a 1000 tonnes of rice to Comoros in March 2021.

India and Comoros are maritime neighbours in the Indian Ocean and are working together to realise the vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for all in Indian Ocean Region).
