Bengal Guv Jagdeep Dhankar thanks Police & Central armed forces after 84 % polling in 2nd phase

Kolkata, Apr 2 (UNI) West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankar on Friday lauded state police and central armed forces after it was reported that about 84 percent electorate cast their vote in the second phase elections for 30 seats held on Thursday.

However, Nandigram, where chief minister and TMC chairman Mamata Banerjee sought her electoral fortune

from East Midnapore district, witnessed about 88 per cent voting. Suvendhu Adhikari, who won the

seat with over 80,000 votes in 2016 on TMC ticket, is this time contesting with BJP ticket.

" Poll Percentage of over 84 percent in 30 ACs of phase 2 in WB and over 88 per cent in Nandigram in phase is commendable.

Excellent job by CAPF and WB Police needs nurturing in coming phases. Appeal to all to cast a vote positively as this sustains democracy. There is no room for violence," Mr Dhankar said on his twitter account .

Incidentally there was no loss of human life in poll related violence on polling days both on March 27 and April 1,first of its kind in many decades in Bengal elections.
