Hyderabad: After working at home for most of 2020, many technicians in Hyderabad have hoped to be back in office soon. However, it appears that the hope was short-lived with the speed in Covid-19 cases that lead many multinational companies to further expand the WFH (Work From Home) mode.
According to industry sources, the WFH system is likely to continue until the end of the year.
‘By 2021, many companies wanted to work with 90-100 percent of staff in offices. However, the increasing number of cases put the idea at stake. After an overview of the situation, it would appear that only 30-35 percent of employees of most companies will work from their positions. It is likely to rise to 60-70 percent in early 2022, ”said Bharani Kumar Aroll, president of the Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association.
The Secretary General of the Security Council of the Association, Krishna Yedula, advised the companies to make work from the office a voluntary option, believing that several companies reported 90-100 percent work productivity despite employees who works at home.
‘The business is growing day by day and one should not take any risk. To get to the office, many employees take taxis with their colleagues. The number of domestic staff will also have to be increased. Both will increase the exposure of every person who is in the office. It is therefore better for the companies to postpone the work of office options, at least for the time being, ”he added.
Although the work of the home presented several challenges, many employees are also reluctant to return to the offices. Vinay Kumar Pyaraka, founder of the Association for Information Technology Employees, expressed concern about this: ‘Although most employees are a little overloaded, they feel safe working from home. The work of their office will also endanger their family members. ”
According to Bharani Kumar, most companies so far have chosen to maintain the status quo over the WFH situation.
‘Companies can choose from two models when they ask to return to office later this year – one in which only essential employees work from the office, and another a roster-based job from office shift, where only a certain percentage of the employees from the office during the week, ”he added.
