Apple has been beta testing the iOS 14.5 version for quite some time and many of the features have been spotted. The latest beta version has just become available to testers and as we expected, there are a few more new features to talk about. The first one is the ability to recalibrate battery health on iPhone 11 series devices. The next up is related to the addition of new Siri voices.
Starting with the first major change, iPhone 11 users have been complaining about below-par battery health performance on their devices. The issue seems to be affecting all the models i.e. iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The users have said that they are experiencing unexpected battery drainage as well as a reduction in peak performance capability. Apple is hopeful of fixing these issues with the iOS 14.5 build.
Once the update becomes available, all users will see a new message in the battery health section. It will say, "Your battery health reporting system is recalibrating Maximum Capacity and Peak Performance Capability. This process may take a few weeks." All these details will get updated once the recalibration is complete. There is also a possibility that this process might fail and in that case, it will get started again and will take a few weeks time.
Apple is further working on introducing two new Siri voices that will be available in both male and female versions. It is currently said to be limited to the English (US) language. These voices sound natural and have been designed using Apple's Neural Text-to-Speech technology. These can be found and enabled by visiting Settings -> Siri & Search -> Siri Voice.
It is reported that even while setting up Siri, Apple will let users browse and select their preferred voice as compared to setting the default voice. It is mostly a female voice but the male voice is also available in select countries.
