T'PURAM: CPI national secretary Binoy Viswam said that the BJP has reduced itself to a constituent of the UDF. The fight in Kerala is between the LDF and UDFBJP alliance, he said.
Speaking at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, Viswam said that the BJP's promise to protect Christians in the country was like the wolf offering to protect the lamb. Still, some of the BJP leaders are promising to protect the interests of the Christians in Kerala, he said.
The military that assumed power in Myanmar through a coup is suppressing the people there, Viswam added. Thousands took to the streets and were shot down by the military. “Then, the military regime organized a party to celebrate the crushing of the people. It was attended by Indian representatives as well. The Indian government closed the borders to thousands of Myanmar citizens who tried to take refuge in Mizoram. This reflects the mindset of the Modi government,” Viswam said.
“Even the Mizoram government was against the Union Government’s decision to close the borders. I don’t know the stand of the Mizoram governor on the issue. He has turned the governor’s office into a BJP camp. He is interested only in settling the issues between church sects." He alleged that BJP-ABVP workers were attacking nuns in Uttar Pradesh.
