Mumbai: NCB arrests Nigerian National with heroin and cocaine

In two separate seizures, the Mumbai zonal unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized a commercial quantity of mephedrone (MD), heroin and cocaine and arrested two persons including a Nigerian national. In the last three months, the NCB has arrested seven foreign nationals on drugs charges.

In the first operation, the NCB intercepted one Nigerian national from Koparkhairane in Navi Mumbai on Thursday and seized 260 grams of Heroin and 22 grams of cocaine. Heroin is an opioid drug made from morphine, a natural substance in the seedpod of the Asian poppy plant. It can be mixed with water and injected with a needle. Heroin can also be smoked or snorted up the nose.


In the second operation, 55 grams of MD worth Rs 5.5 lakh was recovered from one Nasir Samirudding. Acting on a tip-off NCB team apprehended Samruddin from Jogeshwari west on Wednesday.


Following the seizure both the accused were booked under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
