Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of doing injustice to the people of north Bengal. The Home Minister who promised ₹2,000 crore for the region’s development said an AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) would be set up in the area.

“Mamata didi has done nothing for the development of the region. After coming to power, the BJP will constitute a North Bengal Development Board and spend Rs 2,000 crore annually on the region’s development,” Mr Shah said at a rally at Sitalluchi in Cooch Behar district.

During the day Mr. Shah held two public meetings in north Bengal and participated in two road shows in south Bengal. In north Bengal, the Home Minister claimed that infiltration was the biggest problem in the region and promised to stop infiltration from Bangladesh.

Targeting the Trinamool Congress government Mr Shah said that Mamata Banerjee governance model was based on 3T’s of ‘Tolabaji’ (extortion), ‘Tanashahi’ (dictatorship) and ‘Tushtikaran’ (appeasement). The Home Minister promised the implementation of CAA at the first cabinet meeting if the BJP came to power.

Later in the day, participating in roadshows in south Bengal, the BJP leader claimed that Ms Banerjee had lost the election in Nandigram. He said of the first two phases that went to polls, the BJP had won 50 of the 60 Assembly seats.
