Four of these deaths occurred in March and four in February.
The median age of those who died was 74 years and the age range was 51 - 94 years.
There have now been 4,713 deaths in the State of people with Covid-19, while the total case count has risen to 237,187.
There have been 288 new cases confirmed in Dublin, 40 in Kildare, 30 in Meath, 28 in Westmeath, 27 in Laois and the remaining 178 cases are spread across 19 other counties.
Roscommon and Leitrim recorded no new cases, while 15 of the Republic’s 26 counties reported less than 10 cases in the last 24-hour reporting period.
As of 2pm today, there are 264 Covid-19 patients in Irish hospitals, of which 62 are in intensive care. 18 people have been admitted to hospitals with Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
Over 600,000 people have now received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, latest HSE figures show.
Of the 840,561 doses administered in the State as of Tuesday, March 30, 603,802 were first doses while 236,759 people are now fully vaccinated.

Of the cases notified today; 292 are men and 295 are women; 72pc are under 45 years of age and the median age is 31 years old.
