Sachin Tendulkar hospitalized days after testing positive for COVID-19

New Delhi: Five days after testing positive for COVID-19, the legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been admitted to hospital due to ‘abundant precautions under medical advice’.

Last Saturday, Tendulkar announced that he had tested positive for coronavirus and added that all other members at his home had made a negative remark COVID result.

On Friday he tweeted: “Thank you for your wishes and prayers. Due to abundant precautions under medical advice, I was admitted to the hospital. I hope to be home again in a few days. Take care and keep everyone safe. Apart from Tendulkar, S Badrinath, Yusuf Pathan and Irfan Pathan also tested positive for the Covid-19 last week. Everyone shared the locker room for India Legends in the Road Safety World Series played in Raipur, with fans in the stadium.

The 47-year-old also wishes the compatriots and teammates well with the 10th anniversary of India’s World Cup in 2011.

“I wish all Indians and my teammates well on the tenth anniversary of our World Cup victory,” he added.
Tendulkar was the first male cricketer to reach the double hundred in ODI cricket when he scored an unbeaten 200 against South Africa in February 2010. On the ODI rankings, he was a total of 112 games or 354 days at the top. He is also the youngest to reach the ODI batting rankings – at 8,346 days old in February 1996.

Tendulkar, who retired from international cricket in 2013, scored 15,921 and 18,426 runs respectively in 200 Tests and 463 ODIs he played for India. He holds the record for the maximum number of centuries (100) in international cricket.
