As the Centre withdrew the order on interest rate cut on small savings following criticism, Congress on Thursday said BJP’s about-face was an afterthought in view of assembly elections and the rate cut will be imposed after the polls, warning people that a “loot” on the poor and middle class is in the offing.
Congress spokesperson Rajeev Shukla said the government should provide a “guarantee” that it will not cut the interest rate any time after the polls.
