Actor Rajinikanth was honoured with Indian’s highest award in cinema Dadasaheb Phalke award today. The news was confirmed by Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar through Twitter. The minister wrote, “Happy to announce #Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2020 to one of the greatest actors in history of Indian cinema Rajnikant ji. His contribution as actor, producer and screenwriter has been iconic.”

Actor rajinikanth was honoured with Indian’s highest award in cinema dadasaheb phalke award today. The news was confirmed by Information and Broadcasting minister prakash javadekar through social media. The minister wrote, “Happy to announce #Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2020 to one of the greatest actors in history of indian cinema Rajnikant ji. His contribution as actor, producer and screen writer has been iconic.”

He further thanked jury which comprised Asha Bhonsle, mohanlal, subhash ghai, Biswajeet Chatterjee and shankar Mahadevan. As soon as the news broke out many celebrity friends of Rajini as well as political party leaders congratulated him on the social platform.

The first one to congratulate rajinikanth is India’s prime minister narendra Modi. He wrote, “Popular across generations, a body of work few can boast of, diverse roles and an endearing personality…that’s Shri @rajinikanth Ji for you. It is a matter of immense joy that Thalaiva has been conferred with the dadasaheb phalke Award. Congratulations to him.”

The superstar himself took to post to thank all his fans, fellow actors and everyone who supported him thick and thin in his journey. His actor friend kamal haasan was very happy about the award and posted , “The superstar and my dear friend rajinikanth, who proved that fans can be won by screen appearances, deserves it 100%."

Rajinikanth and kamal haasan acted together in 16 films. rajinikanth has been honoured with the Padma bhushan and Padma Vibhushan in the past.
