AIZAWL: Battlelines are drawn for the by-election to central Mizoram’s Serchhip assembly seat to be held on April 17. Six candidates are in the fray after scrutiny of nomination papers was done on Wednesday.
While the ruling MNF has nominated former Lok Sabha member and party vice-president to contest the bypoll, Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has fielded its leader Lalduhoma, whose disqualification on November 27 last year necessitated the bypoll.
Congress’s nominee is former student leader P C Laltlansanga, while People’s Conference party’s candidate is Vanlalruata. The BJP candidate is Lalhriatrenga Chhangte. An Independent, Ramhlun Edena, is also in the fray. tnn
