BENGALURU: Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on Thursday announced a turnover of about Rs 13,500 crore (Provisional & Unaudited) during the financial year 2020-21, against previous year's turnover of Rs 12,608 crore.
“The order book as on April 1, 2021 is around Rs 53,000 crore. In 2020-21, BEL secured significant orders worth Rs 15,000 crore and some of the major orders are ICU ventilators, software-defined radios & communication equipment, various types of radars, sonars, torpedo decoy Systems, electronic warfare systems, networking & encryption products, etc.,” BEL said in a statement.
BEL achieved export sales of around$ 50 million during the said year. “...Major products exported include coastal surveillance system, trans-receive (TR) modules, Bharati Radio, Identification of Friend or Foe–Interrogator (IFFI), electro-mechanical parts, Radar Fingerprinting system (RFPS), low band receivers, spares for radars,” the statement added..
MV Gowtama, CMD, BEL said the firm will continue its efforts in becoming self-reliant through enhanced focus on indigenisation, outsourcing to domestic industry with more thrust on MSME and GeM procurement, minimising import dependency.
“The company is poised to explore & tap new growth areas and new business avenues through continuous diversification, enhancement of capabilities & competitiveness, Modernisation, etc. BEL has forayed into new potential business segments such as healthcare solutions, network and cyber security, space electronics, energy storage systems, software., and is confident of making significant headway in these segments in the years to come,” Gowtama said.
