Didn’t say I would die if I lost, I trust voters: Tamil Nadu health minister

Health minister C Vijayabaskar has denied saying that he would die if he didn’t win the election, as claimed by a few social media posts doing the rounds in the past few days. He clarified through a post from his official Facebook account that he cannot think about uttering such things.
Showing him in tears, one post read that the minister said he would die if he loses the election and the decision is in the hands of voters. Another shows Vijayabaskar, referring to DMK candidate M Palaniappan, saying a candidate who comes to the constituency for 10 days to seek votes can say he would die if he is not elected.
Such posts on his purported emotional speech during the campaign had gone viral forcing Vijayabaskar to clarify that whatever is mentioned in these posts was untrue and intended to malign his reputation. “I have faith in the people of my constituency and the work I have done for them is taller than the Himalayas,” he said, adding that whatever he posts through his officials social media pages alone were authentic.
Similar posts of DMK candidate M Palaniappan have also been circulating ever since both candidates started giving emotional speeches. Palaniappan, who has lost the past two assembly election to Vijayabaskar, told voters that he would work for them till his last breath. “Be it life or death, I will be with you as I have no one else besides you all,” he had said. Vijayabaskar too had said he is suffering from diabetes and blood pressure and that he was too committed to people’s welfare to take care of his health.
