Suvendu Adhikari smiles as he shuttles booth to booth in Nandigram, says victory for development and defeat for appeasement

Nandigram, Apr 1 (UNI) BJP's Nandigram candidate Suvendu Adhikari was

in all smile, while interacting with the media during his shuttling to the polling booths across the assembly constituency, and TMC spokesman Derek O Brien has complained that the BJP workers have jammed and several polling stations in the segment.

Mr Adhikari, who also cast his vote early in the morning for the first

time in his constituency, said the "victory for development is imminent and defeat for appeasement is inevitable" while answering queries from the media.

Mr Adhikari was a voter of Kanthi, also in East Midnapore, but this

time he changed his address and became a voter for Nandigram.

Talking briefly Mr Adhikari said he also received complaints that

the large number of voters, around 200 were prevented from coming out of their homes for voting to a locality.

However, he took the help of the central forces, who help them to come out of their homes and vote freely.

He also alleged that one of his supporters was found hanging at his

Nandigram home.

He alleged that the victim was under pressure for attending a road

show of Mithun Chakraborty in which he also participated on March 30.

" We have received reports that BJP workers have hammed booths 206,

239,225,227,231,233,229 and 114 in Mayna assembly constituency of East Midnapore had a huge number of BJP workers have entered both" TMC leader Derek O'Brien complained about the poll body.

" The BJP workers are attempting to take control of the EVMs and are

rigging the booth", added Mr Brien.

About 22 companies of armed central security forces have been

deployed for only Nandigram seat where webcasting is to cover

about 75 per cent booths and arrangement was made to monitor the movement of people from the air.

A special SP rank officer has been deputed by the election commission

to oversee the security aspect for only Nandigram.

Nandigram assembly constituency has a total 2,57,99 voters, of them

1,23,257 are women electors, who are expected to cast vote at

355 polling booths, All the booths are manned by the central armed

security forces.
