Hyderabad: A person who fled the crash without notifying police or ambulance, although his friend was seriously injured and later died in a drunk driving case, was sent to court for 14 days, traffic police officials said. said in the city on Thursday.
A case was filed on March 26 against M Indrajith Varma for instance of drunk driving and culpable homicide that did not amount to murder.
Police said the accused, Indrajith Varma, in a fatal road accident on March 26 below Madhapur police station boundaries, encouraged his friend, the late B Viswa Teja, 26, to drive a car in a drunken state.
The car crashed into the road divider, put up sign and turned turtle. The driver of the car sustained injuries as a result. The accused, who was sitting next to the deceased, fled the police or ambulance without intimidation, although his friend was seriously injured.
The accused is charged with allowing the deceased to drive, with clear knowledge that driving the car under the influence of alcohol can cause serious accidents. ‘Both drank alcohol together and then started driving the car.
