AHMEDABAD: All passengers travelling to Gujarat from other states will have to give an RT-PCR negative report at the time of entering the state, with effect from Thursday i.e. April 1.
The announcement was made by the Government of Gujarat, last week, in the wake of rising cases of Covid-19 in Gujarat.
Accordingly, check-points to verify the report have been set up along the state borders along with those at airports, railway stations as well as bus-stops in various parts of the state.
“As per the latest travel guidelines, passengers flying to Gujarat must present a negative RT-PCR report not older than 72 hours upon arrival. All passengers will be screened before their entry to the airport,” mentions a statement posted on the social media page of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad.
Sources confirmed that city airport authorities have also set up a kiosk for screening passengers and conducting RT-PCR tests at the airport premises itself, in case a passenger is found to be travelling without a report. This has been done at the arrivals area of the domestic terminal of the city airport.
Similar guidelines have been implemented by several other states including the neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Gujarat reported some 2,360 Covid-19 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the total number of patients in the state to 3,07,698.
Nine Covid-19 patients also succumbed to their injuries.
