MARKET LIVE: Sensex regains momentum, up 400 pts; Nifty Metal index up 4%

LIVE market updates: The Indian benchmark indices regained momentum in Thursday's noon deals and trading nearly 1 per cent higher, lifted by gains in metals, public sector banks, and auto stocks.

Among the headline indices, the S&P BSE Sensex hovered around 49,920 levels, up 400 points, and the broader Nifty50 index topped the 14,800-mark. HCL Tech, IndusInd Bank, and Titan rose 2 per cent each and were the top Sensex gainers.

The Nifty sectoral indices were mixed, with gainers led by the Nifty Metal index (up 4%).

The broader markets, meanwhile, outperformed their benchmark peers, with the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices trading 0.8 per cent and 1.2 per cent higher, respectively.
