The five Sikh high priests today directed the Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) to submit the documents regarding their ‘Amritdhari’ members to the Akal Takht within two days.
It had summoned CKD president Nirmal Singh along with other officer-bearers in the row over ‘non-baptised’ members allegedly being included in organisation.
Akal Takht acting Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said the CKD authorities were asked to submit self-declaration forms of its members which declared them as baptised Sikhs. He said despite the June 30, 2020, restrained orders of the Akal Takht, the CKD included new members in the organisation. The Takht has sought a clarification from them. It also sought a clarification over cancellation of membership of two of its members Satnam Singh and Avtar Singh.
Giani Harpreet Singh said after going through the case, it was found that there were several members who were not baptised. Nirmal Singh said they would submit all documents to the Takht. — TNS
