Global devices in use to hit 6.2 billion this year - Gartner

The number of global devices (mobile phones and PCs including laptops, desktops and tablets) in use globally is set to climb to 6.22 billion units by the end of 2021 and 6.42 billion in 2022, compared to 6.08 billion in 2020, according to a report from Gartner. The rise is attributed to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has served to permanently change device usage patterns of employees and consumers alike when it comes to work, education and gaming, said the report.
