KURUKSHETRA: The Kurukshetra district fast-track special court for crime against children of additional district and session judge Manish Dua convicted Raj Kumar of Pipli and sentenced him imprisonment of 25 years along with fine of Rs 50,000, for raping a 7-year-old girl, special public prosecutor (SPP) Bhupender Kumar said.
The court has directed the district legal services authority (DLSA) to compensate the survivor girl with Rs 6 lakh and it has completed the trial in about one year and two months of time.
SPP Bhupender said that on May 4, 2020, a woman of Kurukshetra district had lodged a complaint at Thanesar Sadar police station alleging that her daughter (7) was raped by Raj Kumar.
On the complaint of the woman, the police had registered a case against Raj under Section 376-AB (punishment for rape on woman under twelve years of age) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of the Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the investigation was handed over to lady sub-inspector (SI) Suman Devi.
SPP Bhupender told that Raj was arrested on May 5, 2020 and complete challan in this case was produced in the court on June 10, 2020.
As per the information, the family of the surviving girl are native of another state and live in rented accommodation in Kurukshetra district.
An official said that on the day of the crime, the minor girl had gone to the house of Raj, while playing and he had raped her there and threatened as well.
The girl with injuries in her private part had started bleeding when she reached home and her mother took her to a primary health centre, where the doctors told her that she had been sexually assaulted.
When the family questioned the girl, she named Raj Kumar for assaulting her and the police had booked him on the complaint of her mother.
