Investigation under way after person found dead in north Charlotte, police say

One man has died of an apparent gunshot wound in north Charlotte on Thursday, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Police said they responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon around 11:15 a.m. near the 900 block of McArthur Avenue, near Atando and Statesville avenues in the Druid Hills neighborhood. Officers the victim with a gunshot wound. Medic pronounced him dead on scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

It would be the 24th homicide in the city for 2021. A man was shot and killed late Wednesday in a south Charlotte apartment community, according to CMPD.

Police encourage anyone with information about the case to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
