Srinagar, Apr 1 (UNI) Two of the four Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants involved in Thursday’s attack on the house of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Srinagar in which a police guard was killed, have been identified, a senior police officer said.
The militants, one of them disguised as veiled woman, also took service weapon of the guard, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar told mediapersons on the sideline of wreath laying ceremony of deceased constable Rameez Raja.
However, he said anti-militancy operations would be further intensified and ultras involved in Thursday's attack would be neutralized.
He said Raja was deployed at the guard post outside the residence of BJP leader Mohammad Anwar Khan at Aribagh in Nowgam area in the city outskirts.
Mr Kumar said CCTV footage of the area revealed that one of the militant, wearing burqa, knocked the door of the BJP leader with a woman voice to deceive the guard. However, when the door was opened, two other militants fired indiscriminately while the fourth took away the rifle of Raja.
He said two militants have been identified as Shahid Khursheed and Obaid Shafi while the identity of two others was being ascertained. Khursheed, a resident of Chanapora, uptown, is already a categorized militant and wanted in a number of cases.
He said Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) have already been intensified and infact a CASO in Chanapora was conducted in the morning. However, militants could not be arrested, he said adding security agencies will work out on human and technical inputs further and catch them soon.
