Punjab: Samrala police arrests international Kabaddi player for raping minor girl in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: Samrala police has arrested an international level Kabaddi player for allegedly raping a minor girl from his village. The accused is 24 years old and is known for his Kabaddi skills.
Police officials said that the Kabaddi player is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl from the same village at a secluded place in the village on March 9. They added that when the matter came to light, the player absconded from the village.
Cops said that following the girl's statements, a case was registered against him at Samrala police station under various sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 A (procuration of minor girl), 376 (rape) of IPC and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and SC (Scheduled caste) & ST (Scheduled tribe) Act.
They added that since then police had been looking for the accused and an advertisement (in the form of a Picture message with photo of accused) was issued by the police for his early arrest.
DSP Samrala Jaswinder Singh said that the accused was arrested from Muzaffanagar in Uttar Pradesh.
