Hyderabad: To promote local artisans from across the state, the Telangana government on Thursday launched a new shopping portal to provide a platform to facilitate crafts and towels.
IT Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday unveiled the Telangana State Handicrafts Development Corporation (TSHDC) e-Golkonda shopping portal.
The initiative was taken by the government of Telangana to facilitate craftsmen and lovers of towels across the country to buy authentic Telangana artifacts with the click of a button.
“The government of Telangana has made every effort to strengthen the Telangana Handicrafts Development Corporation,” KTR said. He added that the E-Golkonda shopping portal was launched to provide an worldwide e-marketing space for Telangana handicrafts and handloom products.
Furthermore, he said that the E-Golkonda portal is far ahead of many other private e-commerce sites in terms of design and operational convenience. Via the E-Golkonda portal, towel lovers from any part of the country can send artifacts to anywhere across the country.
The IT Minister also mentioned that there will be facilities to send the artifacts to any part of the world after obtaining the necessary permits from the central government.
People can also view each artifact in a 3D format on the store portal, which is also accessible via mobile phones, KTR said, adding that the new portal will help with the marketing and promotion of Telangana crafts and towels on a large scale .
He also announced that the state government would set up a common facilities center, in addition to facilitating skills development, technical cooperation and marketing of the products developed by artisans and expanding all the necessary support.
