Dimapur, March 31: St. Paul Training Institute at Phesama in Kohima district has been declared containment zone following detection of fresh Covid-19 positive cases in the institute.

In an order today, Kohima deputy commissioner Gregory Thejawelie said entry to or exit from the containment zone has been strictly prohibited. He said this was necessitated to map the local transmission of the disease and prevent the contagion from spreading.

Nagaland health and family welfare minister S Pangnyu Phom on Wednesday said 107 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in Kohima in the last 24 hours.

All the fresh cases were reportedly detected in St. Paul Training Institute at Phesama.

The deputy commissioner’s order also stated that the residents within the containment zone will be regularly monitored by a medical team over phone or otherwise till they recover or test negative for Covid-19 infection. It said the area henceforth will be fully governed by the various SOPs/advisory/ guidelines and discharge policy of the government.

The order said the containment zone was mapped and cordoned off and the public and all concerned have been advised to follow all safety precautions of wearing masks all the time, frequently washing hands and maintaining social/physical distances to ensure public and personal safety.

It added failure to comply with the guidelines will be penalised under Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and relevant sections of IPC.
