Dimapur, March 31: The Nagaland cabinet today has called a meeting in Kohima on April 7 to discuss the memorandum submitted by the Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) to implement Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) among other important issues, cabinet secretary J Alam said in a circular.

Apex tribal bodies and civil society organisations, under the aegis of the JCPI, after taking out a rally on March 19, submitted a memorandum to the state government through Dimapur deputy commissioner Rajesh Soundarajn to implement RIIN in Nagaland within March 31.

Besides deliberating on the JCPI memorandum the cabinet will brief on its recent meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah, update on the status of shifting of Dimapur deputy commissioner’s office to the new complex at Chumukedima, review ban on appointment, discuss setting up of separate high court for Nagaland, plot of land acquired at Mawdiangdiang in Shillong for construction of medical lodge, amendment of Nagaland State Lotteries (Regulation) Rules, 2010, superannuation age of Nagaland in-service doctors and naming of state soil testing laboratory at Sechu Zubza as Temjen Toy state soil testing laboratory.

Alam said the outcome of discussion on the JCPI memorandum on RIIN, shifting of Dimapur deputy commissioner’s office and reviewing ban on employment will be circulated in due course.

The state cabinet has urged all the cabinet ministers and special invitees including Speaker Sharingain Longkumer to attend the meeting.
