Violence reported from parts of districts going to polls in phase two in Bengal

Kolkata, Apr 1 (UNI) Violence have been reported from parts of districts going to polls in Phase two even as around 37.41 per cent of 7.5 million electorates exercised their franchise till 1130 hours on Thursday in the second phase West Bengal Assembly election to 30 seats to decide the fate of 171 candidates.
A BJP worker was beaten up in Samsabad's Kanchan Nagar area today. One Amirul was behind the death of a BJP worker by hanging in Maheshnagar in Nandigram. The police are taking action. The overall situation today is peaceful.
A woman polling agent of BJP at booth number 173 in Keshpur was beaten up allegedly by TMC workers. And, local BJP leader Tanmay Ghosh’s car was vandalised in the Keshpur assembly constituency.
"Free and fair polls not being conducted here as TMC causing violence. Central forces inactive," says BJP candidate from Keshpur assembly seat.
Earlier, some CPI(M )workers agitated at Ghatal after they were allegedly stopped by TMC workers as they were on their way to cast their vote. Later, security forces reached the spot and removed the road blockade

“In Nowpara, booth no. 22, Anchal-1, my polling agent has been surrounded by 150 TMC goons. He hasn't been allowed to enter the polling booth. In Barunia, voters being threatened and shown the TMC symbol,” she said.
Police detain Mohan Singh, BJP's Mandal President of Debra after a ruckus erupted near a polling booth in the assembly constituency.
In another incident, a Trinamool Congress worker allegedly stabbed to death in Paschim Medinipur district in the early hours of Thursday, hours before polling started in the area, a senior police official said.
Unidentified miscreants killed a TMC worker with a sharp weapon last night, at Dadpur village in Paschim Midnapore district. SP Paschim Midnapore said.
"Eight people arrested in connection with the murder," the SP added.
There have been no reports of violence or clashes among political activists in the constituency, barring an incident in the Bhimkata area in Nandigram where the BJP candidate faced an agitation by a group of TMC workers who shouted slogans against him, an Election Commission official said.
Meanwhile, the EC has also started air surveillance in the area with the help of a helicopter. People who are not voters of Nandigram are not being allowed to enter the constituency in view of the sensitivity.
The commission has also deployed a 22-personnel quick response team (QRT) in the area today.
