Two illegal arms traders along with five associates held by Commissionerate of Police

Bhubaneswar, Mar 31 (UNI) The Commissionerate Police today arrested two illegal arms traders and their five associates from Gurukhetra field near Kaliaboda Matha under Chauliaganj Police station in Cuttack district.
Police also seized four 7.5 mm pistols, three 9 mm pistols, 65 rounds of live ammunition, a car, a motorcycle, a scooter and six mobile phones from their possession.
Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi said acting on a tip-off, a team of Chauliaganj Police conducted a raid and arrested the criminals.
Police identified the Arms traders as Bijay Nayak and his associate Jaga alias Jaganath Das.
Bijay Nayak, one of the accused in the murder of Kendrapara gangster Sk Sulaiman was recently released on bail from Chowdhar Circle jail.
The other five arrested were —Bijay Samal alias Biju, Pintu alias Pari Mohan Das, Silu alias Tushar Khuntia, Bhanu alias Mukhtar Saha and Srinath Rout.
The Commissioner said police raided while Bijay and Jaga were trying to sell their arms and ammunition to Bijay Samal alias Biju, Pintu alias Pari Mohan Das, Silu alias Tushar Khuntia, Bhanu alias Mukhtar Saha and Srinath Rout.
All the seven were notorious criminals and several criminal cases were pending against them in various police stations of Cuttack, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Bhubaneswar and Jagatsinghpur district.
